Andrea Bergamini's Mintea
Mintea.org is the personal portfolio of the Italian graphic designer Andrea Bergamini. The name of this website comes from my love for mint tea and for this tasty moroccan tradition that inspires my work and brings some freshness to my designs.
I used to be a swimmer, and have always enjoyed travelling since my early years (I spent the first six years of my life in Lagos, Nigeria). From that I developed my passion for Photography, mainly focused on travels. During the Density Design Lab., in the first months of 2007, I had my first contact with Infographics and the representation of visual complexity. This encounter, together with the Type Design Course I attended some months later, brought me to my present studies and researches concerning Infographics and the process of reading. The following experience at the Bureau Mijksenaar gave me a valid method and a good theorical basis of what concerns Wayfinding design and Information visualization, and for the first time offered me the opportunity to work in a professional studio. Right now I am attending the second year of the Master Degree in Communica-
tion Design at the Politecnico di Milano, and I am working on my thesis project “Flaminia sans, meta–project of new fonts for road signage”. The subject is a method to design new fonts to be used in different wayfinding systems, with the application of the some of the resulting fonts (almost infinite) to the specific case of Italian road signage. I plan on graduating in July, 2008.
My main interests are Information visualization and Infographics design, Type design, Typography, Wayfinding and Visual instructions, Photography.
I believe that a great designer (just like an architect or any other professional) is a person that lives actively in his society, analyzes and understands it deeply before working on his projects.
Mintea.org will collect my designs, both from my courses at the Politecnico di Milano, and from my non-academic experience as a freelance web designer and graphic designer.
My pictures can be found at
my flickr page. Thank you for your patience, as I am working on my portfolio mintea and hope it will be online soon!
Cheers, Andrea Bergamini
